Meet Between The Pages: A Bookworm Party + Haul

Image
I attended the Meet Between The Pages: A Bookworm Party by Fully Booked last Saturday, October 19, 2019 in Fully Booked: Bonifacio High Street. I was nervous to attend because I am an introvert and I do not do well with social events. But the staffs were very welcoming and the other bookworms were very nice. It was fun to meet a lot of people who share the same interest as me. We got to talk about our favorite books and I also got a lot of recommendations.  The Book Buffet Table, wherein a lot of books and arcs for grabs were displayed.  They also made a section where we can take pictures for bookstagram.   I also received three advanced reader's copies from Penguin Random House.  1. The Blood Heir by Amelie Wen Zhao This hot debut is the first book in an epic new series about a princess hiding a dark secret and the con man she must trust to clear her name for her father's murder. In the Cyrilian Empire, Affinites are reviled...

Last November, I was invited by Sarah from Icon International Events to a book launching of Saw Her Standing There by Patrick Formanes. The event took place at The Forum, Fully Booked in The Fort, Bonifacio Global City. During the event the author together with his wife, Eileen, talked about the book and he even read a chapter sampler. According to Patrick, the novel is inspired by his and his wife's life. He also dedicates the novel to his wife saying that it is a love letter to her. Blind Date with a Book + Haul

Image
The DLSU writer's guild held a Blind Date with a Book event. This prevents buyers from judging a book by its cover since the book is wrapped and concealed with vague hints about the book. So me and my friend went to the event, which was held last March 14-18, 2016 and I got four books in total and each book is 150 pesos, which is a total bargain Seize the Night - Sherrilyn Kenyon Sins of The Night - Sherrilyn Kenyon UFO The Merciless - Danielle Vega                I love the concept of this book sale, since I am a bit biased with book covers in buying books. I had a lot of experiences wherein I buy books because of the covers but when I read it it was not good or I was not interested with the story. And when I see a book and I do not like the cover I just get a ebook version. My only concern was they did...

Cruel Crown and Glass Swords by Victoria Aveyard  I was originally not going to get cruel crown since I really don't buy novella's but since the author is having a book signing next week I decided why not.  3. Batman day + Batman Adventures: Mad Love review.

Image
Yesterday (September 26) was Batman Day at Fullybooked Stores. I was fortunate enough to receive a free special edition Batman comic. Coincidentally, My reserved copy of Batman adventures: Mad love deluxe edition also arrived. Batman Adventures: Mad Love is definitely a must read for any Harley Quinn fan like me. It is very funny. We see the origins of Harleen Quinzel into Harley Quinn. The relationship between her and the Joker is very comedic and we can see that it is one sided but still Harley, even though she is a psychiatrist, falls madly in love with him and would do anything for her puddin. In this we see how loving someone so much and recklessly has implications. The illustration is awesome. I like the very cartoonish drawing. I do recommend this. It a very light and quick read. Plus, Harley Quinn is a very fun character to read about.

Book Haul 5/2/2015

Image
Yesterday was free comic book day and fully booked was having a sale so I said why not. I'm so proud of my self this time because I only bought a couple of books. I saw some books that I was interested with but I put them down because I want to only books that are in my books to buy list and buy only the number of books that I have finish reading. So for example last month I finished 5 books therefore I can buy 5 books this month. I do this to avoid over cluttering my tbr pile.  I am trying to get into collecting comic books and graphic novel, so what perfect time to start buying some during free comic book day. I bought got two comic books, which are Gambit's comic books. If you know me personally you would know that Gambit is my favorite super hero. He  has the ability to mentally create, control, and manipulate pure  kinetic energy  to his desire. He is also incredibly knowledgeable and skilled in  card-throwing , hand-to-hand combat, and the use of a...
