"Deborah Garner is gifted at bringing each character to life. She adds details seamlessly, making it seem like you know these people. She presents scenarios that have you thinking you know who did it, and then in the next sentence you are second guessing yourself. And that is to say, this is a great “who done it” … it gets 2 thumbs up from me :)" - reviews Tracy Helps You

I had a hard time getting into the story because it was the 5th book of a series and I usually want to read book one first but once I read past 50 pages I got hooked into the story. It is a light read which is perfect for a summer read by the poolside. It is comparable to Nancy Drew since both characters both amateur detectives and their storylines are light and easy to read despite dealing with serious cases such as murder. With that. I would love to think that Sadie Kramer is the grown-up version of Nancy Drew. In addition, I love how the author portrays Sadie's relationship with Coco. It is something that is comparable and true for a lot of dog owners. From personal experience, I love my dog like it is my child and bring her around and spoil her.
Furthermore, my favorite part involves Coco and a sardine in the office of the detectives. It was hilarious and it is something that my dog, Leia would do. My only problem with this novel is that there were many fillers in the plot that is really not needed in the overall progression of the plot. This just prolongs the story without much context. Nevertheless, this book has everything I want in a light mystery book. A fun main character, Hollywood murder mystery plus a cute Yorkie, Coco. I was also not expecting the twist in the plot, which made the whole reading experience much more enjoyable. I like the formation of friendship between Sadie and Myrtle, and sisterhood between them. I felt like I was part of the group while reading their dialogues. I definitely would pick up the first four books of the series next. I recommend this book if you are a fan of Nancy Drew, Vivien Chien, and Diane Wing.
