Meet Between The Pages: A Bookworm Party + Haul

I attended the Meet Between The Pages: A Bookworm Party by Fully Booked last Saturday, October 19, 2019 in Fully Booked: Bonifacio High Street. I was nervous to attend because I am an introvert and I do not do well with social events. But the staffs were very welcoming and the other bookworms were very nice. It was fun to meet a lot of people who share the same interest as me. We got to talk about our favorite books and I also got a lot of recommendations.

The Book Buffet Table, wherein a lot of books and arcs for grabs were displayed.

They also made a section where we can take pictures for bookstagram.

I also received three advanced reader's copies from Penguin Random House.
1. The Blood Heir by Amelie Wen Zhao
This hot debut is the first book in an epic new series about a princess hiding a dark secret and the con man she must trust to clear her name for her father's murder.

In the Cyrilian Empire, Affinites are reviled. Their varied gifts to control the world around them are unnatural—dangerous. And Anastacya Mikhailov, the crown princess, has a terrifying secret. Her deadly Affinity to blood is her curse and the reason she has lived her life hidden behind palace walls.

When Ana’s father, the emperor, is murdered, her world is shattered. Framed as his killer, Ana must flee the palace to save her life. And to clear her name, she must find her father’s murderer on her own. But the Cyrilia beyond the palace walls is far different from the one she thought she knew. Corruption rules the land, and a greater conspiracy is at work—one that threatens the very balance of her world. And there is only one person corrupt enough to help Ana get to its core: Ramson Quicktongue.

A cunning crime lord of the Cyrilian underworld, Ramson has sinister plans—though he might have met his match in Ana. Because in this story, the princess might be the most dangerous player of all.

2. Faker by Sarah Smith
Debut author Sarah Smith nails this fun and sexy multicultural romance where two office foes hammer out their differences to build a love that will last...

Emmie Echavarre is a professional faker. She has to be to survive as one of the few female employees at Nuts & Bolts, a power tool company staffed predominantly by gruff, burly men. From nine to five, Monday through Friday, she's tough as nails--the complete opposite of her easy-going real self.

One thing she doesn't have to fake? Her disdain for coworker Tate Rasmussen. Tate has been hostile to her since the day they met. Emmie's friendly greetings and repeated attempts to get to know him failed to garner anything more than scowls and terse one-word answers. Too bad she can't stop staring at his Thor-like biceps...

When Emmie and Tate are forced to work together on a charity construction project, things get...heated. Emmie's beginning to see that beneath Tate's chiseled exterior lies a soft heart, but it will take more than a few kind words to erase the past and convince her that what they have is real.

3. Christmas Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella

Celebrate Christmas with the ultimate Shopaholic!

The brilliant laugh-out-loud festive novel from the Number One bestselling author.

Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) adores Christmas. It's always the same – Mum and Dad hosting, carols playing, Mum pretending she made the Christmas pudding, and the next-door neighbours coming round for sherry in their terrible festive jumpers.

And now it's even easier with online bargain-shopping sites – if you spend enough you even get free delivery. Sorted!

But this year looks set to be different. Unable to resist the draw of craft beer and smashed avocado, Becky's parents are moving to ultra-trendy Shoreditch and have asked Becky if she'll host Christmas this year. What could possibly go wrong?

With sister Jess demanding a vegan turkey, husband Luke determined that he just wants aftershave again, and little Minnie insisting on a very specific picnic hamper – surely Becky can manage all this, as well as the surprise appearance of an old boyfriend and his pushy new girlfriend, whose motives are far from clear . . .

Will chaos ensue, or will Becky manage to bring comfort and joy to Christmas?

Since the event was in Fully Booked BGC, there was a lot of temptations. Therefore I brought the latest volume of Trese, which is volume 7: Shadow Witness. by Budjette Tan (Author) and Kajo Baldisimo (Illustrator).  I have been following this series since my Introduction to Literature class in University. I did not know that there was a new volume and I got excited when I spotted it in the store.

PLOT:
All the train stations of the MRT are suddenly visited by ghosts of the brutally murdered. All except for the 13th station.

There is a secret restaurant owned by an aswang chef, who serves the most unique people as one-of-a-kind dishes.

An ancient chest containing an imprisoned entity has been unlocked.

A 1,000 year old church hides a piece of Philippine history that has been erased from human memory.

Only the shadows of these locations will serve as witnesses to the crimes and transgressions,

When these mysteries become deadly and threatening, the authorities call the one named Trese.
