*ARC* Book Review: Just Kate by Clare Elisabeth Marquez

Title: Just Kate
Author: Clare Elisabeth Marquez
Release Date: April 23, 2017

PLOT:

He’s the one she loves to hate...until she realizes hate has a different meaning.

Kate Espina’s life is not easy-peasy, but the feisty, petite receptionist knows how to bounce back every single time life knocks her down. She may not have much, but she has all that she needs – her sweet, younger brother Bobby and her fiercely loyal friends, Joei and Apol. Life was fine until Kiko walked into her life - again.

Francisco "Kiko" Jose is the man she sees everywhere - Friday movie nights with friends, club night outs, bus stops - and anywhere he can annoy the living daylights out of her! As much as she tries, Kate can’t easily dodge him - not when their lives are intertwined by their best friends, and a shared forgotten bond of friendship no one knows about. Kiko brings memories she wishes to forget, until these memories reveal the unspoken truth she believed for the longest time.

Just Kate is a story of entangled lives and the lies that keep them apart.

Will Kate find the truth to set her heart free?

REVIEW:
Disclaimer: I receive a copy of this book in exchange for an HONEST review.

Clare did it again. She truly has a knack for writing romance novels. She has this talent to make her readers truly believe in second chances and fall in love. Plus, she creates this amazing men that would make you swoon. I now blame her for my unrealistic expectations when it comes to guys.

Kidding aside, when I heard that Clare was writing a book for Kate and Kiko I was so ecstatic and I could not wait to read it because I love those two characters from Simply Joei and I love that they finally got their happy ever after. I also like how we get to see the whole personalities of the two characters as suppose to their limited scenes in the other book. Kate in Simply Joei was very loyal and very fierce but in this book we see more of her sides. She is not only fierce and loyal to her friends and brother; she can also be vulnerable and doubtful about herself. While Kiko is not the funny and laid back guy I knew. He is so much more in a way that he is also sensitive and caring. (Plus the Fernando Jose thing = amazing!!!) In addition, I like how we get to see more of Joei and Jake, and how we are introduced to more characters such as Apol who I loved immediately. He is like Kate's fairy godmother because he gives amazing advice and fashionable clothes to Kate and I hope to read more about him in his own book.

Furthermore, the only thing that confused me is the fact that Kate and Kiko knew each other before but there was no indication of this fact in the other book, Simply Joei. But nonetheless, I still like the story and I highly recommend reading it. This book is fast pace and easy to read. It has everything you want in a romance novel; a hot man and lots of swoon worthy scenes. And you don't need to read Simply Joei to read this book but I do recommend reading it first.

Plus, I will never look at cupcakes the same way as before (Cupcake + Francisco Jose's lips = Yum!).

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Clare Elisabeth Marquez enjoys sitting in her pajamas while looking out the window from her amazingly massive writer’s desk, reveling in the glorious beauty of snow-capped mountains as she sips her warm, soothing coffee.

Then she wakes up. And writes.

A closet romantic through and through, C.E. Marquez is a voracious reader, writer, and dreamer, never failing to believe that dreams can come true for those who wait . . . and do something about it! Her towering piles of notes of handwritten stories (which she started collecting when she was ten!) are her well-kept treasures, tattered and bruised, but still waiting for their chance to see the light.

She writes about things that matter: love, life, and everything else in between.
