A heart to protect. A debt to repay. A game to win.
After being swept up in the magical world of Caraval, Donatella Dragna has finally escaped her father and saved her sister, Scarlett, from a disastrous arranged marriage. The girls should be celebrating, but Tella isn’t yet free. She made a desperate bargain with a mysterious criminal, and what Tella owes him no one has ever been able to deliver: Caraval Master Legend’s true name.
The only chance of uncovering Legend’s identity is to win Caraval, so Tella throws herself into the legendary competition once more—and into the path of the murderous heir to the throne, a doomed love story, and a web of secrets…including her sister's. Caraval has always demanded bravery, cunning, and sacrifice, but now the game is asking for more. If Tella can’t fulfill her bargain and deliver Legend’s name, she’ll lose everything she cares about—maybe even her life. But if she wins, Legend and Caraval will be destroyed forever...
Welcome, welcome to Caraval . . . the games have only just begun.
REVIEW:
I fell back in love with this world all over again. I could not NOT finish this book once I started reading the first page. There is something about Stephanie Garber's writing that pull me into her world immediately. It was such a pleasure to read. She truly has a knack for creating captivating and magical words. Reading this story feels like falling down a rabbit hole because the world is just mesmerising. The magical elements is just unrealistic yet so believable.
Furthermore, I love the confusion and mystery that envelopes the whole story. It is seriously addicting and leaves me wanting more. I do not know how I can wait for the next and last book anymore. I just need to know what happens next. The ending left me hanging and eager to read more. I also love that we get to see a new side of Tella. She did not made an impact to me in the first book but she really came out of her shell in this book and I am living for it. She showed that she is strong yet vulnerable, which makes her more realistic. She also goes after what she wants and she is willing to do everything and sacrifice herself for the people she loves.
I definitely recommend this book if you are looking for a magical adventure filled with a mystery.
P.S the revelation about Legend's true identity left me shookt! I need to re-read the first book to see the clues.
